EVA is a teleintimacy robot designed as a discursive critique on the way in which we ascribe emotion or relevance to inanimate objects. EVA serves as a companion for long-distance relationships, acting as a surrogate significant other.
Through emotion-recognition software built into one's phone, EVA displays the emotion that one's partner is currently experiencing (happy, angry, or sad).
We built EVA using a Raspberry Pi 2. This was me and my group partner's first time working in hardware, so needless to say, we learned a lot! We implemented LED functionality, DC motor and servo motors.
